We begin in Tokyo, grounding ourselves in neighbourhoods and everyday city life, before stepping out to Kamakura's temples and Yokohama's waterfront pace.
From there, the journey turns inward — moving through Nagano's mountains, alpine towns like Takayama, and historic streets of Kanazawa, connected by scenic rail routes and regional rhythms.
We then settle intro Kyoto's cultural heart, with time for Nara and Uji's quieter traditions, before ending in Osaka's easygoing street life.
A glimpse of the moments that shape this 11-day route — moving from layered cities to mountain towns, alpine rail journeys, and cultural heartlands, where everyday life, history, and landscape come together naturally.
A softer side of Tokyo — lantern alleys, warm neighbourhood corners and calm evenings before the journey opens into the rest of Japan.
A slower, older Japan — wooded temples, sea air, and quiet lanes that ease you out of the city and into a gentler rhythm.
A relaxed port city — wide promenades, water views, and an evening that unfolds slowly between the harbor and Chinatown.
Highland Japan at its quietest — cedar forests, mountain air, and shrine paths where time slows down.
Morning markets, carpenters’ quarters and calm riversides — Takayama moves at a gentle, old-world pace.
Wooden storehouses, canal bridges and the soft calm of a true mountain town — simple, unhurried beauty.
Samurai districts, tea houses and the craft culture Kanazawa is known for — refined, slow and thoughtful.
Gion’s warm evenings, temple gardens and quiet morning walks — Kyoto at its most intimate.
Ancient forests, gentle deer and deep cultural spaces — Nara slows everything down naturally.
Heritage teahouses, river views and quiet moments in Japan’s tea heartland.
Neighbourhood food lanes, riverfront walks and a relaxed final night before departure.
A calm route through Tokyo, Fuji’s lakes, the Japanese Alps, post-road villages, craft towns, tea valleys, island temples and the warm street life of Osaka.
DAYS 1–11
Ease in, check in, wander through Shibuya Crossing and start Japan gently with a warm izakaya welcome dinner.
A calm Tokyo morning exploring Senso-ji, craft streets and riverside paths before a soft evening in the city.
A day that moves gently from old Japan to modern — quiet temples and coastal air in Kamakura, followed by waterfront views and dinner in Yokohama’s Chinatown.
The pace drops further as the landscape rises — a day shaped by mountains, forested paths, and a quieter, more elemental Japan.
A day shaped by small-town stillness and preserved tradition — quiet morning lanes in Hida Furukawa, easing into the warmth and character of Takayama by evening.
Slow walks through Kenroku-en, artisan quarters and refined old streets.
Arrive in Kyoto and ease into Gion’s warm lantern glow and quiet streets.
A fuller day in Kyoto, paced for depth — early temples, shaded walks, and time to let the city reveal itself without rushing.
A gentle step back into Japan’s spiritual roots — grand temples and open parkland in Nara, followed by a quiet pause in Uji before returning to Kyoto.
A shift in mood — louder, warmer, and full of character. Osaka brings street life, bold flavours, and a sense of everyday Japan at its most open.
A relaxed final morning in Japan — time for last-minute finds, a quiet coffee, and an easy departure from Osaka.
These are hotels we sometimes use on this journey.

Trip Lead & Experience Designer
Hi, I’m Abhay.
I’ve been travelling across Japan since 2009. I studied there as a university exchange student, speak Japanese, and continue returning season after season — building close local friendships and exploring regions beyond the usual routes.
Japan isn’t a checklist for me. It’s a place I know deeply and keep coming back to.
Trip Lead & Guest Well-being Planner
Hi, I’m Shivani.
I’ve been travelling across Japan since 2016, experiencing it across seasons and regional routes. Alongside my full-time work as a dental surgeon, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for Japan’s food culture, hospitality standards and aesthetic sensibility.
Japan is a place I genuinely enjoy sharing — helping the group feel comfortable and at ease along the way.
