About
A story of friendship, curiosity, and belonging.
BEHIND beyond tokyo
Beyond Tokyo began with friendships. While studying in the UK, I became close to a few classmates from Japan.
Later, when I visited them, I wasn’t a tourist. I was welcomed into everyday life.
Not sightseeing. Just life.
Small neighborhood cafés.
Local festivals.
Family dinners.
Quiet train rides through the countryside.
Slow, gentle mornings.
Japan stopped feeling like a trip. It became a feeling.
A feeling of care, simplicity, stillness, and warmth — all expressed quietly.
I returned. Then returned again. With friends. With family. Across seasons and years.
Over time, it became clear that most travelers don’t get to see Japan this way. They move fast. They check lists. They stay outside the culture.
So Beyond Tokyo was created to open the door inward.
Small groups.
Local relationships.
Journeys designed to breathe.
Just Japan — lived, shared and felt.
Why we travel
Traveling through Japan can be beautiful, but most tours move too fast.
Days become a list of sights to “cover,” trains to catch, and photos to take before the group moves on.
There is little space to slow down, to notice, to feel.
We created Beyond Tokyo for travellers who want something different.
Journeys that allow time to breathe. Time to walk through a quiet street after the tour buses have gone.
Time to share tea with a local host.
Time to simply be present.
This is travel that values depth over speed, and stories over checklists.
How we travel

Maximum 10 travelers.
Personal, social and never crowded.

Led by people who know Japan deeply and share the stories behind what you see.

Everything is handled. You just explore.

Pacing, food and comfort designed around you.
who is this for
Beyond Tokyo is for travelers who want to slow down, notice more, and connect more deeply.
If you value presence and meaning over pace, this is your journey.
A Note From the Founder
Japan has been a place I return to again and again.
Each visit reminds me that travel doesn’t need to be rushed to be meaningful.
The most memorable moments are often the quiet ones — a shared meal, a walk through a neighborhood, the feeling of being welcomed rather than passing through.
My hope with Beyond Tokyo is simple:
To share the Japan that changed me.
The gentle, everyday, deeply human Japan that most travelers never get to see.
Thank you for being here.
I look forward to traveling together.
